Fall/Winter Tour Championship
Backyard Bassin Tournament Trails held their Fall/Winter Trail championship Saturday, February 2nd on Lake Texoma. Twenty-six teams launched out of The Alberta Creek Resort and Marina on what turned out to be a beautiful winter day. Temperatures reached into the upper 60's and there was very little wind on the lake.
Butch Matthews from Gainesville, TX and Greg Reedy of Denton, TX took home the championship honors with a solid five fish limit weighing in at 14.94 pounds. They also had big bass honors with a nice 5.14 pound large mouth bass. The Arkies' sponsored duo won $1,660.00 for their day of fishing.
The reigning Backyard Bassin Anglers of The Year Wayne Brown and Chad Brown of Ardmore, OK finished in a close second with another five fish limit weighing 14.06 pounds.
J. D. Kent of Durant, OK and Bo Rhodes from Carrollton, TX got their second top 3 finish of the season with another five fish limit weighing 13.82 pounds. They are sponsored by Visual Solutions in Durant, OK.
All of the anglers were treated to a BBQ dinner at Blackbeard Marine the night before the tournament. The flipping contest preliminaries were held after the dinner setting up a flip off between Mike Souza and Kris Bell. Mike beat Kris in a flip off at the weigh in taking home a brand new BuTi custom rod. Brandon Stewart won the grand door prize of a new onboard charging system donated by Blackbeard Marine.
