BYB RULES


1. These Rules apply to all entrants of this tournament. Violation of any of these rules will warrant appropriate disciplinary action by Tournament Directors. Any protest must be received in writing and signed within ten minutes of final check-in deadline to be taken literally. Tournament Director’s decisions will be final in all matters.

2. State, Federal, and Local Laws must be obeyed.

3. Team Trail Entry Fee is $150.00 per team (includes Big Bass). Cash or checks are preferred. Full entry fee may be transferred to another tournament of same division if notified three days prior to tournament. Any returned checks will be subject to a $50.00 handling fee.

4. All Entrants are subject to take a Polygraph Test. Failure to take and/or pass such a test will result in disqualification. Any person who has failed a polygraph test in connection with any bass tournament for cheating will not be eligible. Please note that polygraph test can not be given to anyone who has consumed alcohol. 

5. Alcohol and narcotics will not be allowed in the possession of contestants during tournament hours, unless prescription medicine. Alcoholic beverages are permitted after your team has weighed your fish (unless prohibited by the host marina).

6. Courtesy, Safe Boating, Sportsmanship and Conservation must be displayed at all times by contestants. A U.S. Coast Guard approved chest type PFD must be on and fastened anytime the boat is on plane. All boats must meet U.S. Coast Guard standards. Outboard motors may not exceed boat manufacturer's rating. All boats must have an emergency kill-switch and must be attached to the driver anytime the boat is on plane.

7. All fishing must be done with artificial lures only. Pork is permitted. Only one rod and reel may be used at a time by contestants. No trolling with the combustion engine allowed. All fish must be caught in a legal and sporting manner during tournament hours from tournament waters. Contestants may not use any communication or video device for the sole purpose of locating or catching bass during tournament hours. Tracking devices inserted in bass may not be used by any contestant during or before the tournament. Hole-sitting by or for entrants is not allowed.

8. There will be no off limits period of the lake for fishing, scouting, or locating bass. Boat stalls, slips, or beaching of boats is allowed on the night before a tournament for convenience and easing of traffic at host marina. test ma

9. Boats must have an operational live well with an aeration system. Teams may keep no more than five bass in the live well. If more than 5 five fish are brought in, that teams catch will be disqualified.

10. Scoring will be determined by the total weight of not more than five bass per team meeting designated size requirements. Fish will be measured on measuring board with the tail closed. Ties for cash prizes will be settled by combining two cash awards and splitting the total between tied teams.

11. No fishing is allowed within 25 yards of another tournament boat without mutual consent.  No tube, bank, or wade fishing is allowed.

12. Tournament Hours and Check Points will be given at registration and are the responsibility of each entrant. Any boat ramp may be used however, all boats will take-off in a numbered order at first safe-light from host marina or ramp. Weigh-In will be staggered in flight intervals. All boats must be inspected and tagged before take off.

13. Upon entering this fishing tournament, contestants release Backyard Bassin and Backyard Bassin officials and sponsors from liability of accidents, losses or thefts. Contestants are responsible for knowing and understanding these rules.

14. Penalties: There will be a .5 pound penalty deducted for each dead fish weighed in. There will be a .5 pound penalty deducted for any fish not meeting the predetermined size requirement brought to the scales, plus, a loss of same fish. Any contestant's weight will not be counted, if not checked-in by the designated check-in time. Any team checked in before the deadline will be allowed to weigh their fish. There will be no late check ins. Please use the weigh bags provided by Backyard Bassin.

15. All teams are allowed one substitute angler during the trail season. If partner or substitute can not make a tournament, you will be allowed to fish individually. Tournament Directors must be notified before take-off if fishing individually.

16. Team Championship qualification is determined by any team or their one substitute fishing at least three out of the five tournament stops.

17. Yearly standings will be determined by total combined weight and participation points.

18. Membership Fee is $45 per person and is good for all BYB Spring/Summer Team Trail tournaments during the year 2008. This may be paid by mail, during tournament registration, or any other time prior to competing. Membership expires after the 2008 Spring/Summer championship.

19. Participation/Eligibility: All Backyard Bassin Tournaments are open to all anglers except Pros: A Pro is defined as any person that has entered a bass tournament that required an entry fee greater than $1,999.00. Any person entering a Backyard Bassin Tournament under the age of 18 must also have the signature of their parent or legal guardian in the provided space on the official entry form.

20. Each participant must be aware of any off limits areas, Off limits will be announced at the registration meeting and prior to take off.

21. Tournament can be cancelled or delayed by the tournament directors at any time due to hazardous weather or lake conditions. Tournaments can also be moved to other lakes if conditions are hazardous.
