When arriving at the Lake Texoma, Catfish Bay main unloading ramp, tournament anglers’ boats will be checked before entering the water. A colored tape will be put on your trolling motor after your live wells are checked. If for some reason your boat does not get checked you must find a tournament director. You must have tape on your trolling motor at all times so that you are identified as a Backyard Bassin Contestant.
After your boat gets checked you must check in or register at this time. A table will be set up at the pavilion for registration. When you check in or register you will also draw your take-off number. We have no idea how many boats will show up so we will put plenty of numbers in the box to cover any amount of contestants. So, this means that at take-off there may be some blanks. (EXAMPLE: We will call boat #1, the next boat may be boat #5.) So all boats should be ready to take-off when each number is called.
At the registration table you should receive your membership card, your take-off number, rules, and what flight you will be in. Flights will be determined on the number of boats. For instance, if we have 60 boats we will have 3 flights. The first flight will weigh in at 3:00 second flight will weigh in at 3:15 and third flight will be in ay 3:30. Having flights helps keep fish more stable and also makes the weigh-in go smoother and faster.
When we call your number please help us out by waving at us. We ask that all boats idle past the send-out boat. Take extreme caution when leaving the take-off area. When on the water we ask that all teams use good sportsmanship. We want to keep a friendly atmosphere on the water and on the ramp.
When returning to the ramp a tournament volunteer will be waiting at the dock. You need to check-in with them before your designated return time. Any late boats will not be allowed to weigh their fish. When you get to the dock call out your boat number and they will mark you down. Find a place to park your boat and get a tournament bag which is provided by BYB. All fish should be weighed in a bag provided by BYB. Fish must be weighed in before you can load your boat.
At the weigh-in site there will be a staging tank to provide your fish with fresh water. When it is your turn to weigh, show your boat number card to the BYB staff member. When you hand fish to the tournament staff they will be bumped and weighed. No angler will be able to touch their fish after they are handed to the BYB staff. When you receive your weight you will sign a weigh-in slip and place your boat number card in the lake container that you want the championship to be held on. After every boat has weighed their fish the tournament staff will tally the results. We will start paying out starting with the last place in the money to first. The teams that receive checks may be asked to have their picture made and give a brief interview.
EARLY BIRD DRAWINGS
All contestants entries received before the tournament date will be entered into the Early Bird Drawing.
FOOD
We will provide drinks and snacks at check-in the morning of the tournament.
CONTESTS AND PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONS
During the weigh in, we will have a free flipping contest sponsored by Jeff Kriets Outdoor Headquarters. There will be a donation bucket set up at the flipping deck with the proceeds going to The March of Dimes.
Some of our sponsors may show up and do some type of product demonstration. Remember that sponsors are a big part of why tournament trails exist and why they will continue for years to come. If any member of our tournament trail would like to promote their own products at our tournament they are more than welcome. Just let us know ahead of time and we will be happy help out.
We at Backyard Bassin ask that all of our members do their part in taking care of our lakes. We need to keep our woods and waterways clean for the future of our sport. We will have trash cans at the ramp for unwanted items.
If at any time you are unhappy with anything that is done or said at our tournaments let us know. We know that we can’t make everyone happy, but we can sure give it a shot. We want to make our Trail something fishermen enjoy. We hope to have every angler as excited about this trail as we are.
If anyone is interested in any products our sponsors provide we are more than happy to place orders. Always ask if you have any questions about their products and we will provide information or we might even have some to try.
