Lake Murray Tournament Results
May 10th 2008
The BackYard Bassin Spring/Summer tournament trail reached the mid-way point Saturday May 10th with the third stop of the year. Lake Murray was the host lake for this event, and it produced a wonderful day for tournament fishing.
The tournament got started Friday evening with a big registration/meeting at Toyota of Ardmore. Jeremy Hodge and his staff provided dinner and put on a great event for all the anglers and guest. Blackbeard Marine had their custom wrapped Legend bass boat on display along with the 2008 truck of the year Toyota Tundra. The flipping contest turned out to be the one of the main events of the evening. BYB tournament anglers raised over $100.00 to be donated to Relay For Life. Lance Hartman won the flip off between himself Dru Smith and Tim Reed. Lance donated the BuTi custom rod to a local youth that fishes the Jr. Bassmaster Circuit.
Fifty-two boats showed up Saturday morning to fish for the guaranteed first place money of $2,500.00. Larry Wood and Robert Brooks of Ardmore, Ok took home first place honors with a five fish limit weighing 13.40 pounds. They also had big bass of the tournament with a 5.76 pound largemouth paying them another $520.00. Their total earnings for the day came to $3,020.00. Congratulations guys.
Vince Fulks of Purcell, OK and Dru Smith from Oklahoma City, OK took home second place honors with a five fish limit weighing 12.28 pounds. This always solid team took home $1,300.00 for their hard work. They wanted to thank their sponsors: Basszone.com ~ Duffy. Cox and Associates ~ Bassgrabbers.com.
Third place went to Tom Hughes and Mike Kirby from Noble, OK. The 11.22 pound five fish limit earned them $800.00 for the tournament.
