Lake Murray Results

November 18th 2007

The second annual  Backyard Bassin fall/winter team tournament trail kicked off at Lake Murray November 18, 2007. The 34 teams in attendance were greeted by a very thick fog covering all of southern Oklahoma. The fog delay kept all of the anglers at the north ramp for well over an hour into prime fishing time. Tournament directors let the first flight of boats leave the staging area once they felt that the visibility was clear enough to travel safely. All of the anglers used safe boating practices and the weather turned out to be perfect for a great day of fishing.

Championship honors went to Wayne Brown and Chad Brown of Ardmore, OK. This strong southern Oklahoma team brought a very solid five fish limit to the weigh stage weighing 13.05 pounds. The duo also captured big fish honors with a very nice smallmouth bass weighing 5.11 pounds. Their efforts were rewarded with a nice $1,440.00 payday.

Second place went to the team of Mark Reeves of Grant, Ok and Kevin Gardner of Marietta, Ok. This competitive fishing team also brought a hefty five fish limit to the scales weighing 12.06 pounds. They also had a nice Lake Murray kicker fish weighing 4.11 pounds. They took home $625.00 for the day.

The third place team of  Noel Reeves and Marty Kaus made the drive from Duncan, Ok to compete once again on the Backyard Bassin trail. They brought a five fish limit to the stage weighing 10.67 pounds.

Some of the other high lights of the event were the new Toyota Tundra's on display from Toyota of Ardmore along with the new Legend bass boat from Blackbeard Marine. The staff from BuTi Custom fishing rods was also on hand with a nice display for anglers to try out. There were several nice prizes given away, with the grand door prize of a BuTi custom fishing rod going to Randy Clover Sr. and Randy Clover Jr. from Gainesville, TX.
