The Backyard Bassin Spring/Summer Tournament Trail held their inaugural event of the season Saturday March 15th 2008. The tournament was held out of the Alberta Creek Resort and Marina on Lake Texoma. Seventy-two teams launched out on a breezy morning for fishing. The week before the tournament warm spring days set the tone for some great fishing. Water temps. warmed just enough to get the bass moving and made for several very nice limits being weighed in.

The first place team of Ronnie Cooley from OKC and Gary Rayburn of Norman, OK brought a hefty five fish limit to the weigh in stage topping all other teams. Their winning weight of 16.75 pounds paid them $2,800.00 for the day. Ronnie and Gary wanted to thank their sponsors: Champion Boats, Mercury Motors, Nichols Marine, Hart Tackle and Kistler Rods. Congratulations guys!

Second place went to Greg Reedy from Denton, TX and Butch Mathews of Gainesville, TX. The 15.99 pound five fish limit earned this strong duo $1,800.00. They also wanted to thank their sponsors: Ranger-Yamaha-Pure Fishing-Arkie-Bullet Weights

Third place went to Cody Wilson and Shane Franks of Kingston, OK. They brought a five fish limit to the scales weighing 14.98 lbs. anchored by a nice 5.47 lb. kicker fish. The Texoma Tackle sponsored team took home $1,000.00 for their catch.

Jack Knight of Whitesboro, TX and Mark Ruffin from Sadler, TX took home big bass honors with a black bass weighing 6.66 lbs.  Big Bass paid this duo $720.00

BuTi Custom Rods sponsored a flipping contest with all of the donations from the contest being donated to the "Road Race 2 A Cure" Cancer Run. This is an event being held in conjunction with Relay for Life. Chris Bell was this contest winner taking home a brand new BuTi Custom Rod.

Our next event is scheduled for April 26th on Lake Eufaula. We will be set up at Nichols Point across from the main ramp at Eufaula Cove. Hope to see everyone there.
